CABA level 1: Assessment skill development.
Audience:
Therapists, therapy assistance and support staff, teaching assistants, industry representatives.
This module is for practitioners who work with postural assessments in children and/or adults and will support them to:
- Develop their knowledge and understanding of good postural assessment practice.
- Understand how to apply the CABA in a standardised format in their everyday practice
- Understand the CABA strategies and framework which they can draw upon for to support their postural management interventions.
- Enhance and embed clinical decision making and justification of equipment provision and intervention needs for individuals with postural problems.
Learning objectives:
- Develop knowledge of how the key areas of postural assessment can impact on clinical provision and postural assessment.
- Understand the importance of using a standardised assessment in postural clinical decision making.
- Consider the CABA application and strategies, and how implementation of this can measure effectiveness of interventions for individuals with postural problems.
- Reflect on how the CABA clinical structure can help inform and justify postural equipment provision and can inform the CABA passport profile.
This course will develop knowledge and understanding of standardised postural assessment and the application of the CABA in everyday clinical practice– looking at factors that may impact upon service development and provision, including a specific focus on outcome measurement and clinical justification.
We will examine the current understanding from an evidence-based approach on postural assessment and outcome measurement in clinical settings that inform identification of needs. We will then look at how, in our everyday practice, we can apply the CABA to support postural interventions, communication and service framework to promote service development and implementation of effective postural strategies.
